Now this is some troubling news! Google’s CEO Larry Page has admitted that he faces vocal cord paralysis that makes him face difficulty in breathing and speaking some times. But the gentleman still manages to run his company to the best!

Larry Page’s predicament

Page had been forced to stay away, from the annual shareholders meet of Google Inc and a conference call, as he had lost his voice. He explained this on his Google Plus Profile just recently but his absence had given the jitters to the shareholders.

Since the last two years, 40 year old Larry Page has been working as Google’s co-founder and CEO. He admitted that about 14 years ago he had come down with a severe cold that had paralyzed his left vocal cord, but Google way back then had been in its nascent stages. Another cold attack last year had affected his right vocal cord as well. There is a mild movement noticed in his right cord as yet he states.

The agitated investors

Remember Apple’s blow when they withheld details on Steve Jobs’ health condition? Jobs who had been suffering from cancer, had taken two leaves of absence and then laid down the baton from Apple’s CEO about 6 weeks prior to his death.

So Page’s absence from the meet had scared the daylights out of the investors. They feared that his illness may come in the way of his performance. Page had come back into action in October and had set the agitated Wall Street worries to rest. He had carried on with a robotic and raspy sounded voice.
Confirmation by Page

It was a relief to see Larry Page write “Thankfully, after some initial recovery I'm fully able to do all I need to at home and at work, though my voice is softer than before.” He further wrote “giving long monologues is more tedious for me and probably the audience.”

The reason for the hobbled vocal cords still needs to be diagnosed, says Page. Page had been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 2003, the doctors fear that this maybe the reason for the condition of his vocal chords.

Page was heard stating about his medical condition that it is “fairly common benign inflammatory condition of the thyroid which causes me no problems.’ It’s not only his vocal cords that are influenced as “Vocal cord nerve issues can also affect your breathing, so my ability to exercise at peak aerobic capacity is somewhat reduced,'' wrote Page “That said, my friends still think I have way more stamina than them when we go kite surfing.”He zestfully commented. It’s a sad thing that Page has to undergo these health hassles that are very uncommon and extremely rare.

It’s suspense about the way the next major conference event planned by Google is going to go! Will Page make an appearance on stage this time, or will Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google make waves this time?
